The basic rules
- Short and easy to say. Try spelling it out over the phone.
- No hyphens or numbers, unless they’re part of your brand.
- Same as your brand. Use the exact name if you can.
- No other brands. Check that no other business uses the name.
.com or a country domain?
If you sell in one country, a local domain like .it can feel closer. If you work across countries, .com is usually the most flexible option.
Common mistakes
- Registering it under someone else’s name or company.
- Forgetting to renew it.
- Using someone else’s email as the contact.
