Google Business step by step

It’s free and, for a local business, it’s often the first thing a client sees on Google.

What it is and why it matters

Google Business Profile is the listing that appears on Google Maps and in search results when someone looks for your business or industry nearby. It shows your address, hours, phone number, photos and reviews.

How to create it

  1. Go to business.google.com using a Google account for your business.
  2. Enter your real business name and choose the main category that best describes you.
  3. Say whether you serve clients at a location, at their place or both, and set your service area.
  4. Add your phone number and website.
  5. Verify your business with the method Google offers you. It varies by industry and country.

How to complete it properly

  • Use the same details everywhere. Your name, address and phone number should match your website.
  • Upload real photos of your work, premises and team.
  • Add your services and hours and keep them up to date.
  • Link to a useful page, not a social profile, so people who find you can get in touch.

Reviews

Ask real clients for reviews right after finishing a job, and reply to all of them, including negative ones. Don’t buy reviews: it breaks Google’s policies and could cost you your profile.

The next step is making your website support your listing. Continue with our local SEO guide.
